I originate from Margaret River in rural Western Australia, where I spent the best part of my childhood/youth riding my horse through the forests and along the beaches. My father was a stockman [cowboy]. I did a stint as a young person growing my own food and living simply. Strangely, like most ‘want-to-be hippies’ of that time I sold out and moved to the city, went to university and am now a CEO!
I work in the community services sector, although I spent about 5 years as a strategic planner. I have held a number of positions at management level across a range of social service areas to include: humanitarian refugees, counselling, homeless children, family and parenting initiatives and it goes on. I really enjoy my work. It is challenging, interesting and rewarding.
I prefer to do simple things: movies, reading and walks along the river. Although I can be outgoing [and my position requires it] I am very content with my own company and that of a few close relationships. I also write, and have written my first novel and part way through my second. Art and photography are interests of mine and I look forward to developing skills in these areas.
I am a very calm person, comfortable with myself and others, however I can be a little ‘blonde’ (or so I am told). I was once described as ‘Legally Blonde [from the movie by the same name] meets Joan of Ark’. That’s probably a pretty good descriptor of me.
Although I live in Perth Western Australia I would love to visit America and it would be great to have someone to visit :)
